Catalog description

The effect of crystal structures and microstructures on the mechanical properties in metals, polymers and ceramics is covered. Plasticity based on the materials stress-strain curves is related to the behavior of each material class. Dislocations, deformation and mechanical twins are used to determine the deformation mechanisms under different types of deformational modes. Hardening due to the interaction of dislocations and/or twins are related to solid solutions and precipitation and/or dispersion hardenable alloys. Fatigue, creep, ductile and brittle fractures are also covered in this class. Keywords: Materials Properties, Structure, Deformation
