Catalog description

History of Texas: An examination of the people and politics of Texas, beginning with the earliest Indigenous communities and ending with its current population. By exploring who was moving into the region, defining its borders, and participating in its creation, students will learn how Texas has been an indigenous space, a colonial project, a contested territory for slavery, and a political battleground between conservative and progressive ideals. Students will learn how to analyze primary and secondary sources, and to think critically about historical narratives.
