Performance Studies

Catalog description

This course offers an introduction to performance studies through a focus on culture. Performance studies is an Interdisciplinary field that borrows from theatre studies, anthropology, sociology, art history, and cultural studies. Students will examine a broad range of performances on and off the stage looking at the relationship between theory and practice to explore concepts of performativity and how this affects the study of constructions of gender, race, and national identity.
