Issues, Ideas, and Artmaking

Catalog description

Through the study of contemporary art this course connects making practices to ideas and issues. This course builds upon practices begun in introductory art studios and highlights art making and curriculum writing as meaning and making practices connected to each other and to ideas and issues. Contemporary issues pertaining to the art world, art education, and to the larger world are explored. This course is a hybrid course that involves lecture and studio components. Students can expect to view, make, and critique art as well as write reflective papers and plan written curriculum.
