Human Rights in the Americas

This course is a general introduction to the study of human rights in the Americas since 1948. The primary goals of this course are to introduce you to human rights as a legal discourse and public policy framework enabling human rights victims and their defenders to confront perpetrators of abuse. This course will help you became familiar with international human rights law, human rights journalism, human rights advocacy, human rights groups, and human rights mechanisms. Topics covered include the rights to: equality, life, freedom of expression, family, be free from torture and mistreatment, migration, among other topics.
