Catalog description
This course is intended to provide students with an advanced study of managing institutions of higher education through case studies, simulations, problem-solving exercises and activities. Students will be involved in the analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of variables and decisions in administering the academic enterprise. Selective case studies addressing organization and governance issues in higher education, administrative practices, financing higher education, faculty affairs, student affairs, and issues in curriculum and instruction will be utilized. The course will draw from scholarly research, including academic books and articles, to help students frame the case studies at hand. Students who have taken HIED 5312 may not enroll in HIED 6312 .
