Catalog description

This is an introductory course for non-art majors that explores the relationship between art and society, its historical contexts, and the vocabulary used to evaluate art. Students will learn about different media, analyze works within their cultural and historical settings, and develop critical thinking skills. This course explores artistic periods that involve the human form and classical ideals. It provides a foundation for understanding how art functions as a form of communication and expression within various cultures throughout history. This course does not fulfill the art history requirement for art majors.
