Pedagogy and Philosophy of Education

Catalog description
This course shall examine traditional and contemporary philosophies associated with the pedagogy of secondary education. Best research-based practices shall be emphasized as well as how these pedagogical practices are grounded in theories and philosophies for secondary education classroom and school settings. Specific and explicit theoretical and philosophical applications will be made to the growth and development of the adolescent learner. Progressive approaches to curriculum and instruction in the secondary school will be explored with a particular focus on issues of school choice, restorative justice, resilience, grit, growth mindset, and problem-based learning.
