Introduction to Neuropsychological Screening

This course will introduce students to the theory and practice of Clinical Neuropsychology. This specialized subfield of Clinical Psychology assesses and interprets the relationship between brain function, cognition, emotion and behavior. In this course, the emphasis will be on recognition and screening for neuropsychological dysfunction. Students will develop an understanding of the field through review of adult and pediatric cognitive and neurological disorders as well as strategies of neuropsychological screening, including measure selection, appreciation of psychometric strengths/limitations, administration, and report writing. Besides reviewing cases and research, students will demonstrate development through screening administration. Prerequisites: PSY 515 , PSY 572 , PSY 573 .
