Catalog description

This course provides an in-depth introduction to the principles and practices of audio engineering within a music production context. Students will explore the technical and artistic aspects of sound recording, editing, mixing, and mastering using industry-standard digital audio workstations (DAWs) and studio equipment. Emphasis is placed on developing both critical listening skills and technical proficiency in capturing and shaping sound in studio and live environments. The course integrates theoretical foundations of acoustics, signal flow, microphone techniques, and audio processing with hands-on experience in studio settings. Designed for music students, the course bridges the gap between musical artistry and audio technology, preparing students for creative and professional work in recording, production, and sound reinforcement. Prerequisites: MUS 310 Music Technology.
