Catalog description

This course provides a general introduction to symbolic computational linguistics, the study of linguistics-based computational systems that understand and generate human language. This class will cover fundamental concepts and techniques, such as lexical and ontological semantics, word sense disambiguation, syntactic and semantic parsing, and generation. Throughout the class, students will be exposed to recent research that connects the concepts learned to exciting research questions that are practically motivated and application-oriented.
