Advanced Survey of American Literature II

Catalog description
This course examines the development of American literature from the Civil War to the present. The course may approach literature from thematic or chronological perspectives. Topics could include an exploration of how narrative fostered the formation of American identities and literatures, how fundamental ideologies and intellectual concepts still influence how contemporary Americans think of themselves, and how anxieties about race, class, gender, and religion informed the creation of literature in the U.S. during this period. This course explores various authors and genres to discuss the changing landscape of American literature. Prerequisites: ENG 1302 .
