Advanced Issues of Professionalism

Catalog description

This field-based course prepares prospective teachers to consider advanced issues of the profession such as, but not limited to: design and support effective classroom environments that foster student engagement and positive behavior. Emphasis is placed on organizing classroom space, managing time, developing supportive routines, and using instructional strategies that respond to varied learner needs and backgrounds. Teacher candidates will build skills to support both academic and social-emotional growth by creating respectful, inclusive, and student-centered environments. Coursework is integrated with hands-on experience alongside experienced public school teachers in elementary and/or middle school classrooms. Prerequisites: ELED 440 Min Grade C and ELED 447 Min Grade C and RDG 360 Min Grade C and Requires admission to the Educator Preparation Program and Departmental Approval Required.
