Catalog description

In this course, you will develop a working familiarity with the grounding principles of probability and statistics from a data analysis perspective . We will review fundamental probability and statistical concepts and introduce data analysis from the Bayesian perspective. This course will also use a high-level programming language for statistical data analysis to study and practice the following methodologies: data cleaning, feature extraction; web scrubbing, text analysis; data visualization; fitting statistical models; simulation of probability distributions and statistical models; statistical inference methods that use simulations. Prerequisite(s): MATH 3311 or equivalent undergraduate course in probability, or permission of instructor.<br/>
