Catalog description
In this course, students examine the history and evolution of abnormal psychology and how clinicians use contemporary diagnostic criteria of abnormal behavior in various settings. They examine specific techniques for the diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of cognitive, emotional, and developmental disorders, as well as for psychophysiological and psychosocial problems. Students consider environmental, biological, legal, ethical, cultural, and contextual factors that may contribute to behavioral disorders. Students apply these techniques and considerations to case conceptualizations and treatment plans. Prerequisite(s): COUN 5350 or permission of department chair.<br/>
