This course introduces generalist social work practice at the mezzo level, emphasizing its scope across groups, organizations, and communities. Within this context, the course focuses on group work as one key method of mezzo practice. Students will develop skills to design, facilitate, and evaluate group interventions while examining group dynamics, leadership, and communication, with attention to how identity, power, and multicultural contexts shape group processes. The course also highlights collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and positions group work as a bridge between micro and macro practice. Emphasis is placed on ethical, culturally responsive practice and experiential learning to prepare students for effective participation in and facilitation of diverse group settings.
