FOUNDATIONS OF ACUTE AND CHRONIC CARE IN ADULT-GERONTOLOGY PRACTICE.

Catalog description

This course introduces foundational principles of advanced clinical reasoning, evidence-based decision-making, and patient-centered management of common acute and chronic conditions in adolescent, adult, and older-adult populations. Emphasis is placed on integrating social determinants of health, cultural and ethical considerations, and interprofessional collaboration to promote equitable outcomes across diverse healthcare settings. Students will explore systems-based practice, professional accountability, and the use of technology and electronic health records (EHR) to support safe, high-quality care. This course establishes the foundation for the development of advanced practice competencies within the Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) role. Prerequisite: NURS 5220 ; NURS 5120 and NURS 5334 , and NURS 5364 or concurrent enrollment, or Certificate Program Standing.
