ADULT-GERONTOLOGY ACUTE CARE: ADVANCED CLINICAL PRACTICE.

Catalog description

This course provides advanced clinical experience in acute and specialty care settings with an emphasis on the management of complex, acutely ill adult and older adult patients. Students refine clinical reasoning, diagnostic synthesis, and evidence-based decision-making skills while managing patients with multifaceted health problems. Emphasis is placed on interprofessional collaboration, leadership during high-acuity and critical care events, and integration of quality, safety, and ethical principles into patient care. Under faculty and preceptor guidance, students progress toward independent practice by demonstrating competence in advanced procedures, coordination of care across transitions, and reflective evaluation of professional growth within the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner role. Prerequisite: NURSC 5354 or concurrent enrollment; Good academic standing (GPA 3.0) or certificate program standing.
