ADULT-GERONTOLOGY ACUTE CARE: CLINICAL RESIDENCY.

This final preceptorship course provides an immersive clinical experience designed to prepare students for independent practice as Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioners. Under the supervision of experienced preceptors and faculty, students manage complex patients with multisystem disorders across acute and specialty care settings. Emphasis is placed on clinical autonomy, advanced diagnostic reasoning, leadership within interprofessional teams, and the integration of quality improvement, health policy, and ethical decision-making into practice. Students demonstrate mastery of acute care competencies, safe management of advanced technologies, and effective communication in high-acuity and end-of-life care. This course serves as the culminating experience in which students synthesize and apply all program competencies to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care consistent with national AGACNP certification standards. Prerequisites: NURS 5354 , NURS 5355 , and 3.0 or higher GPA.
