Survey of metallic materials, ceramic materials, polymers and composite materials applied in orthopedic implants. Introduction to surface modification, biostability, and tribology of orthopedic implants. Several laboratory practices are included. Prerequisite: Graduate standing in science or engineering, or department consent.
