INTRODUCTION TO BIOPHYSICAL CHEMISTRY.

Catalog description

A basic course introducing the physical principles that govern biological systems and processes, and the methods used for their investigation. Topics include solution thermodynamics, biomolecular interactions, enzyme kinetics, transport processes (diffusion, sedimentation, electrophoresis, viscous flow), and the applications of spectroscopic methods (absorption, emission and scattering of radiation, and the utilization of polarized light). Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in each of the following: CHEM 2335 , MATH 1426 , and 8 hours of college level physics.
