Catalog description

Design Studio VII is the culminating studio in the M.Arch sequence, where students synthesize design knowledge, technical skills, and analytical inquiry to develop comprehensive building-scale architectural projects. Students address complex programmatic, material, structural, and environmental challenges, including passive design strategies and active building and environmental control systems, through iterative design, critical reflection, and experimentation. The studio emphasizes integration across all aspects of architecture, preparing students to produce innovative, contextually grounded solutions and to communicate them clearly and professionally through visual, oral, and written media. Prerequisite: ARCH 5384 , ARCH 5376 , ARCH 5694 , ARCH 5695 , and ARCH 5696 Corequisite: ARCH 5385 .
