University of Texas at Arlington · UGRD · Fall 2026
1 section
Catalog description
Design Studio III engages students in architecture within complex physical, social, and cultural contexts. Building on prior work in abstraction and material exploration, the studio emphasizes the integration of site, program, material, and urban environment. Students investigate how environmental, historical, and societal factors inform design, while exploring formal, tectonic, and structural strategies. The studio fosters iterative making, critical reflection, and precedent-informed inquiry to develop architecture that is conceptually rigorous and contextually grounded. Prerequisite: ARCH 5692 Corequisite: ARCH 5393 .
