Architecture and the Environment I explores site as a central factor in architectural design, emphasizing topography, climate, and context. Students are introduced to passive environmental strategies, including solar orientation, wind, and vegetation, alongside larger-scale ecological and Landscape Urbanism concepts. Through case studies, critical readings, and discussions, students learn how projects integrate environmental, cultural, and spatial conditions, developing a framework to inform their own designs. Prerequisites: ARCH 5301 , ARCH 5303 , ARCH 5690 Corequisites: ARCH 5692 .
