TECTONICS IV: RESILIENT SYSTEMS.

Catalog description

This course examines how societal, cultural, environmental, and economic values shape-and are shaped by-the design and construction of buildings, landscapes, and cities. Using a systems-based approach, students will explore resilience in the built environment through in-depth case studies, critical texts, media, and perspectives from leading practitioners. Emphasis is placed on resiliency, tectonics, material systems, and fabrication processes that investigate how the act of making reflects and influences broader architectural design trajectories and discourse. Prerequisite: "C" or better in ARCH 3322 , ARCH 3325 and ARCH 3506 . Restricted to declared Architecture majors. Minimum 2.8 GPAs both cumulative and within the major required. Corequisite: ARCH 4507 .
