Catalog description
This course explores the properties, behaviors, and evolving applications of various building materials, construction systems, and fabrication processes through an emphasis on their role in historic, contemporary, and future architectural practice. Students will gain an understanding materiality through technical, aesthetic, and ethical lenses, with a focus on sustainability and ecological thinking. By integrating material experimentation with design thinking, the course fosters informed decision-making in architectural construction systems. Prerequisite: "C" or better in ARCH 1302 and ARCH 1502 . Restricted to declared Architecture majors. Minimum 2.8 GPAs both cumulative and within the major required. Corequisite: ARCH 2503 .
