ADVANCED CONCEPTS IN ADULT-GERONTOLOGY ACUTE AND CRITICAL CARE.

Catalog description

This course focuses on the advanced evaluation, diagnosis, and management of adolescents, adults, and older adults experiencing acute, critical, or complex multisystem illness across the continuum of care. Emphasis is placed on applying evidence-based decision-making, interprofessional collaboration, and systems-based leadership to optimize outcomes for acutely ill patients. Students will integrate physiologic, psychosocial, and cultural considerations into patient-centered plans of care and demonstrate effective use of advanced acute care technologies. Ethical, professional, and regulatory principles are examined in the context of high-acuity clinical decision-making, patient safety, and quality improvement. This course prepares students to function as competent, collaborative, and accountable members of the interprofessional acute care team. Prerequisite: NURS 5461 .
