Catalog description
This course applies the ISO 31000 Risk Management Process and ANSI/ASSP Z690.2 within a model-based systems engineering (MBSE) framework to address common system safety engineering issues in industry. Students will learn structured methods for hazard identification, risk assessment, decision-making under uncertainty, and safety assurance, integrating digital modeling tools to support traceability and verification. Emphasis is placed on applying risk-based thinking to real-world engineered systems, including manufacturing, transportation, energy, and defense applications.
