Catalog description

This course examines structured approaches to risk analysis and management within the systems engineering lifecycle. Students will apply the ISO 31000 risk management process, IEC 61508 functional safety principles, ANSI/ASSP Z690.2 risk assessment techniques, and ANSI B11.TR8 machinery risk methods to real-world safety-critical systems. The course emphasizes hazard identification, risk evaluation, and treatment planning in domains such as manufacturing automation, process control, robotics, and high-integrity control systems.
