Catalog description

The course is intended to introduce civil/architecture/construction engineering students to the fundamentals of AI and GenAI with an emphasis on applications relevant to engineering including those related to ethics and societal responsibility (in line with ABET requirements) as well as exposure to general AI tools. The course provides exposure to the foundations of AI, types and limitations, aspects of transparency, privacy and reliability/robustness. The course provides examples of how AI is being used in different fields/sectors and its implications on design, production, and practice, and encourages students to think critically about the use of AI and its impact on their education, society, and the profession.
