TECTONICS III: ARCHITECTURE + THE ENVIRONMENT.

Catalog description

This course examines the dynamic relationship between the built environment and natural systems through the lens of sustainability, ecology, and systems thinking. Students explore environmental influences on architecture at the city, street, and building site scales, with emphasis on passive and active strategies such as solar orientation, heating/cooling, ventilation, and site planning. Topics will be explored through case studies, spatial visualizations, and an analysis of relevant works and texts. Prerequisites: "C" or better in ARCH 2321 and ARCH 2504 . Restricted to declared Architecture majors. Minimum 2.8 GPAs both cumulative and within the major required. Corequisites: ARCH 3322 .
