Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. COURSE OVERVIEW. This course is an inquiry-based examination of feminist theory from various disciplinary perspectives, with application to past and current cultural and societal debates and controversies. Disciplinary approaches may include those from sociology, cultural anthropology, political science, rhetoric, philosophy, science studies, literary studies, legal studies, performance studies, history, visual culture and media studies, among others. TOPICS. Course may include discussions and readings related to intersectionality, traditions and genealogies of feminism, gender-based violence, performativity, domesticity, labor, Marxism, colonialism/postcolonialism/decolonialism, global capitalism, gender, sexuality and feminist and/or queer social movements, among others. Instructors teaching this class will choose texts, assessments and approaches that represent current scholarship, instructor expertise, and satisfy course learning objectives. Prerequisites: WGST 200 or approval of instructor; junior or senior classification.
