Feminist Inquiry and Research Methods

Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. COURSE OVERVIEW. This course is an interdisciplinary exploration of feminist research methods and inquiry in the humanities, social sciences and sciences. It explores ethical approaches to feminist research, feminist understandings of epistemology and feminist research design. TOPICS. Course may include but is not limited to discussions and readings about standpoint epistemology; poststructuralist, decolonial, feminist and queer approaches to research; and feminist science studies. Examples of feminist research discussed in class may focus on constructions of sex, gender, and sexuality, race/racism and other topics of contemporary relevance. Instructors teaching this class will choose texts, assessments and approaches that represent current scholarship and instructor expertise and satisfy course learning objectives. Prerequisites: WGST 200 .
