Biomedical Microbiology

Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. This course is designed to provide learners with an opportunity to gain an understanding of the fundamentals of microbiology, including bacteriology, mycology, protozoology and virology, with specific emphasis on infectious diseases of humans and animals. This course will be offered in a welcoming and intellectually stimulating setting to promote active participation of learners. All students are encouraged to engage in classroom discussions for easier assimilation and a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Prerequisites: Grade of C or better in BIOL 112 , CHEM 258 , and PHYS 202 ; grade of C or better in MATH 142 , MATH 147 , MATH 151 , or MATH 171 ; junior classification in Biomedical Sciences; may have concurrent enrollment with VTPB 426 .
