Catalog description

Credits 3. 1 Lecture Hour. 5 Lab Hours. This course serves as the culminating experience for the virtual production focus area, integrating prior coursework in digital storytelling, virtual cinematography, lighting and post-production. Structured as a simulated professional production environment, students work in small teams to conceive, pitch, plan and execute a short narrative film utilizing the university’s LED volume stage (or equivalent virtual production technology). The course emphasizes advanced project management, iterative content development (ICVFX/Unreal Engine asset creation), collaborative pre-visualization and the rigorous schedule of a physical virtual production shoot. The semester functions as a single, continuous production cycle culminating in post-production finishing and professional delivery, resulting in a portfolio-ready short film that demonstrates technical fluency, creative leadership and team-based collaboration. Prerequisites: Grade C or better in VIST 200 , VIST 325 or VIST 426 ; or approval of instructor.
