Catalog description

Credits 3. 2 Lecture Hours. 2 Lab Hours. An advanced studio with emphasis on creating and articulating a compelling setting for a computer game, using worldbuilding as a fundamental tool for game creation, structural analysis of ludic narratives and settings, and exploring the creation of worlds for games through visual language, cultural synthesis and environment design. Students develop the visual and narrative logic of a world from cosmological foundations to playable form. Emphasis is placed on the relationship between narrative worldbuilding, environment art, cultural representation and immersive design, with integrated writing and visual communication throughout. Prerequisites: Grade of C or better in VIST 305 or VIST 386 .
