Credits 3. 1 Lecture Hour. 5 Lab Hours. This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the art, theory and technical practice of film editing and the post-production pipeline. Anchored in a non-linear editing system the fundamental principles taught are applicable across all professional, leading, editing platforms. Students explore the history and theory of film montage, continuity editing and stylistic techniques across fiction and non-fiction cinema. Technical training covers the complete editorial workflow, from media management, assembly, rough and fine cuts, to post-processing stages that include sound design fundamentals, professional color correction and grading, and final delivery for multiple distribution formats. The primary goal is to teach students to think like editors, understanding post-production as both a technical discipline and a vital phase of cinematic storytelling where rhythm, structure and affect are refined into expressive coherence. Prerequisites: Grade of C or better in VIST 200 .
