Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. In the digital age, AI technologies are revolutionizing landscape architecture and urban planning, providing innovative solutions for complex design and planning challenges. This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the application of AI tools in these fields. Students will explore practical applications such as writing design statements, conducting research, creating and modifying images and generating high-quality renderings. The course integrates key aspects of landscape architecture design, such as site analysis, conceptual design and detailed planning, as well as urban planning processes including land-use planning, infrastructure management and smart city solutions. Through a practical, "learning by doing" approach, students will develop visual and textual communication skills essential for translating design concepts into various digital formats. They will gain hands-on experience with AI tools to enhance their ability to perform site analysis, generate design alternatives, optimize designs for sustainability and user experience, and simulate urban growth. Additionally, the course emphasizes ethical considerations, ensuring students understand the social impacts of AI and learn to use AI responsibly to create equitable and inclusive designs. Prerequisites: Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning majors or approval of instructor.
