Catalog description

Credits 0 to 10. 0 to 10 Other Hours. 2- or 4-week elective; process of transplantation from the preoperative evaluation to the postoperative care; introduction to various aspects of transplantation to include organ preservation, procurement, immunology, immunosuppressive medications and technical complications; increase familiarity and knowledge of surgical complications of the transplant recipient and their treatment and surgical alternatives for dialysis access in the renal failure patients. Prerequisite: Satisfactory completion of year three of the medical school curriculum.
