Contemporary Sociological Theory

Catalog description

Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. Survey course that critically analyses sociological perspectives that shape contemporary sociological theory, their logic of inquiry, substantive claims, explanatory power and application to empirical research that may include conflict, culture, development, exchange, feminist, network, postcolonial, organizations, political economy, race and ethnicity, symbolic interaction and theory construction. Objectives include understanding how to operationalize concepts and use theory to develop research questions and hypotheses or propositions. Prerequisite: SOCI 611 .
