Credits 3. 2 Lecture Hours. 3 Lab Hours. This course has been designed to expose students to land management within the private/public land interface. Developing skills to understand, and therefore manage, the interface between stakeholders will be the primary focus of this course. Students will become familiar with the issues and practices regarding natural resource management within the public/private land interface related to ranching and livestock production, wildlife-based enterprises, endangered species management and other areas of natural resources. Students will gather information regarding land management and complete a written plan to summarize their experiences and make recommendations resolving issues identified between parties. Students will develop the ability to complete inventory/information gathering, develop critical thinking/analysis skills and develop management recommendations communication skills through a written plan. Background information will be provided online and via a 10-day field trip to collect supporting resource information. Prerequisites: Junior or senior classification.
