Designing Arts in Health Programs

Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. Explores the principles, practices and design of arts-based programming for health and wellness. Create, adapt and evaluate arts experiences for diverse populations, including hospitalized children, older adults in assisted living, individuals with Parkinson’s disease, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health and those with limited mobility. Design arts interventions which support emotional health, enhance memory recall, encourage social connection and foster physical benefits such as coordination, range of motion and balance. Prerequisites: PVFA 202 ; PHLT 336 , KINE 282 , KINE 223 , HHUM 107 , ENGL 107 or PHIL 107 .
