Credits 2. 6 Lab Hours. Exercises of increasing complexity that utilize electronics-based techniques of experimental physics (lab-built amplifiers, synchronous detectors, tuned LRC circuits); measuring electron spin resonance and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) absorption signals via marginal oscillator techniques; performing pre-set experiments on optical pumping of spin states in rubidium gas and on pulsed NMR. Prerequisite: PHYS 327 or equivalent.
