Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. An exploration of social choice theory and different approaches to decision-making in groups, including applications to voting and democratic theory. Possible topics include interpersonal utility comparison, Arrow's impossibility theorem, Condorcet’s jury theorem, strategic voting, gerrymandering and political polarization. Prerequisite: 3 hours of core MATH and 3 hours of PHIL.
