Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. Philosophy challenges students to understand, articulate and evaluate arguments from multiple points of view. Students focus on major philosophers and philosophical approaches from the 20th and 21st century in reference to primary texts associated with areas such as: phenomenology; hermeneutics; critical theory; structuralism, deconstruction and poststructuralism; feminist theory; postmodernism; and related areas. Students explore themes such as understanding and interpretation, language and meaning, ideology critique, power and issues of social justice. Prerequisite: Junior or senior classification or approval of instructor.
