Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. Philosophy challenges students to understand, articulate and evaluate arguments from multiple points of view. Students investigate the nature and objectivity of the social sciences, their paradigms and patterns of explanation. Students explore questions such as: Are there explanatory laws in the social sciences? Should social explanations always include information about individuals or can social facts by themselves be explanatory? What does the reproducibility crisis in the social sciences tell us? Prerequisite: Junior or senior classification or approval of instructor.
