Credits 6. 6 Other Hours. Gain professional skills in the area of nutrition/nutrition support; participation in a variety of clinical activities, functioning as an integral member of the health care team; emphasis on building knowledge and experience with enteral and parenteral nutrition and the ability to demonstrate understanding of common disease states and treatment modalities as well as ability to provide pharmaceutical care; most commonly encountered medical conditions may include malnutrition syndromes, malabsorptive syndromes (short gut, inflammatory bowel disease, etc.), high metabolic need states (burns, critical care, etc.), and conditions requiring specialized feeding devices. Prerequisite: P4 classification.
