Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. Broad perspective on how the subsurface can be engineered for sustainable energy solutions; evolving energy mix and decarbonization strategies, geothermal energy, carbon capture and storage, and subsurface gas storage; subsurface storage value chain, resource and capacity estimation, unconventional storage systems characterization, site selection criteria, subsurface storage monitoring. Prerequisites: Graduate classification; engineering and geoscience majors; approval of instructor.
