Review of literature concerning occlusion and its relationship to periodontal disease; clinical evaluation, diagnosis of occlusal trauma and treatment of patients with occlusal disharmonies via occlusal adjustment are discussed; includes a review of occlusal concepts related to periodontics, anatomy and function of the masticatory system, temporomandibular joint dysfunction, and adjustment of the natural dentition.
