Catalog description

Credits 3. 3 Lecture Hours. Examine the definitions, classification and etiology of psychopathology through diagnostic, theoretical and empirical frameworks. Focus on adult psychopathology while integrating relevant topics from child and adolescent presentations. Explore behavioral phenotypes and the cognitive, affective, neurobiological and developmental foundations of psychiatric disorders within sociocultural contexts. Understand symptom categories, theoretical conceptualizations and epidemiological patterns. Build a foundation in current research and theory to support clinical understanding and application. Prerequisite: Enrollment in Clinical Psychology Program or approval of instructor.
